В руководстве на php.net даются рекомендации по использованию !aptitude -h, apt-get -h, !apt-cache search php5, php --help, , таким образом, используя системный загрузчик можно посмотреть кэш, удаленный репозиторий, а можно обратиться к PHP и просто распечатать php -m (список модулей) и здоровенный php -i phpinfo()

Как получать информацию о модулях Debian¶

Нам нужно знать, какие модули PHP есть, включены..., поскольку при установке LAMP постоянно возникает необходимость что-нибудь подключить. Помнится, я раньше делал это через C-panel. И было это очень утомительно... Здесь пробуем вариант с aptitude ...для этого на сайте php.net Debian GNU/Linux installation notes есть примеры, но сначала покажем разницу между apt-get и aptitude

'egrep' means 'grep -E'.  'fgrep' means 'grep -F'.
Direct invocation as either 'egrep' or 'fgrep' is deprecated.
When FILE is -, read standard input.  With no FILE, read . if a command-line
-r is given, - otherwise.  If fewer than two FILEs are given, assume -h.
Exit status is 0 if any line is selected, 1 otherwise;
if any error occurs and -q is not given, the exit status is 2.
